Baltimore's Gary Bartz is considered one of the most talented jazz saxophonists of his generation. In the '60s, he developed his skills with Charles Mingus' Jazz Workshop before launching a solo career that would ultimately yield more than 40 albums. He won a GRAMMY® for his performance on McCoy Tyner's Illuminations, and the fiery solos he added to recordings like Miles Davis' Live-Evil are rare gems. Bartz also fronted NTU Troop, the avant-jazz squad peddling a mind-bending mix of soul, funk, bop and African music. The guy's a true musical explorer.
