But Alabama Shakes have been the best kind of package deal ever since the four-piece busted out of the Southern U.S. and captured wider attention in 2011. Tightly constructed and impeccably performed, songs like their breakout hit “Hold On” and the indomitable “Don’t Wanna Fight” are as economic as they are powerful, each one a combustible combination of rock, soul and R&B. Of course, you can always count on Howard to set it all off.
