About Henny C

Henny C’s signature blend of Afropop, R&B and gospel music has endeared him to music fans across South Africa. He is also known as one of the torchbearers for Marrabenta—a dance-music genre created from the fusion of traditional Mozambican rhythms and Portuguese folk music. The singer/songwriter/producer was born Henny Susani Chauke in 1985 and grew up in Mphambo, Malamulele, Limpopo, where he developed his musical talent with performances at church and released his first gospel album in his teens. Almost two decades after his professional debut, he gained nationwide acclaim with 2017’s “Lovola Money”, an upbeat song with heartfelt lyrics about marriage that became a staple at South African weddings. The performer, affectionately known as Tsonga Prince, showed off his musical range with 2020’s dance-themed Love and War album, which scored a Best Traditional Album nomination at the 2021 South African Music Awards.
