Taking the sound of 1960s girl group pop and bringing it into the 2020s, Hemi Hemingway mixes lo-fi guitar buzz with pop melodies in the classic manner and creates music that brings out the best side of both. Clever without drowning in irony, his songs take music crafted for young women, filter it through the imagination of a somewhat older man, and let the contradictions work in his favor. The side project of a veteran indie musician, Hemingway made his debut in 2021 with the tuneful lo-fi sounds of the EP The Lonely Hunter.
