Jorja Smith spent much of 2016 getting people very excited about her effortless, informed, and deeply soulful pop with a trio of eclectic singles. Her first EP arrives so perfectly formed it almost feels like showing off. The aching “Something in the Way” marks Smith out as her hero Amy Winehouse’s truest successor, Maverick Sabre is the perfect foil on “Carry Me Home”’s heart-stopping vintage soul, while “Imperfect Circle” is a dreamy slice of R&B perfection.
