Congo’s musical heritage is rich and widespread across Africa and beyond. The horn- and guitar-fuelled big bands of the ‘50s gave birth to the wonderfully worldly confections of Congolese rumba. The great artists of the ‘80s diaspora brought soukous to the Parisian dance floors and the ndombolo craze took over with its faster beats—and fun new moves. Time to dust off those dancing shoes!
