Indian-Canadian singer and lyricist Sharn Jhutty—better known as simply Sharn—has been garnering fans at a rapid rate, entranced by his warm, well-honed Punjabi vocals on melodic hip-hop tracks, poppy love songs, lo-fi tunes and smooth bops. Sharn’s first forays in music were alongside university friend and fellow singer-songwriter Karan Bhargava, the pair releasing songs via Flying Star Studios after moving to Surrey, BC. The earnest longing at the heart of 2021’s “Dil Tutteya” and the party-friendly vibe of 2022’s “Surrey Aale” showcased Sharn’s range, although his breakthrough arguably came later in 2022 with “Mi Amor”. This rhythmic, romantic single, crafted with fellow talents 40K and THE Paul, became a hit in India and across the Punjabi diaspora thanks to its buoyant sound. Sharn signed with Universal Music Group label VYRL Punjabi in 2023 and the melodic “We Alone” followed, racking up millions of listens in just weeks and showing just how far Sharn’s distinctive voice has come in such a short time.
