Lukas Geniušas Essentials

Russian child prodigy Lukas Geniušas, son of the esteemed Lithuanian pianist Petras, first performed publicly in 1996 at age six (just one year after he took up the piano), and his career has only blossomed since then. Although he plays in chamber contexts, he’s known as a protean soloist. His broad repertoire makes room for composers such as Germany’s Paul Hindemith and America’s John Adams, but he possesses an abiding affinity for the music of his homeland, particularly Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky. His playing crackles with vitality, yet he exercises restraint, preferring crisp accuracy to blustery grandstanding.
