Joan Jett & The Blackhearts: Deep Cuts

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts: Deep Cuts

Even though Joan Jett is one of the toughest punks on the block, she can still be vulnerable. As early as 1977's “Wasted”—recorded with proto-punk greats The Runaways—the young rocker was already detailing the ravages of pop fame with a desperation that cuts to the soul. She gets more harrowing on “This Means War” and “Soulmates to Strangers”, thick, buzzing rockers on which Jett wears her broken heart on her sleeve.
