Emile Mosseri Essentials

Emile Mosseri came to film composing by way of indie rock, as the former singer and bassist for New York band The Dig, and ascended rapidly with an Oscar-nominated score for 2020 film Minari. Considering his pedigree, it's hardly surprising that some of his writing taps into his indie-rock background, whether enlisting Angel Olsen to channel the spirit of Roy Orbison on "Mr. Lonely" from the score to Kajillionaire or bringing a narcotic post-Mazzy Star vibe to Minari's "Rain Song." He also demonstrates equal ease with more conventional orchestral themes, privileging simplicity over Hollywood excess.
