Chandler Moore combines a husky voice, spiritual inclusion and a love of artistic collaboration into a sound that smashes barriers both stylistically and racially. Most Christians received their first taste of Moore’s gifts in 2020, when his partnership with Maverick City Music produced “Man of Your Word”, a game-changing anthem that reflects the Atlanta collective’s determination to build bridges between Black gospel and contemporary praise-and-worship communities. Moore—who was born in 1995 into a deeply religious family from Charleston, South Carolina—takes the same approach with his solo work. His 2020 debut full-length, Feelings, reveals flecks of R&B and exudes singer-songwriter warmth. At the same time, the worship leader and composer began blurring the edges between sacred music and secular pop when he contributed vocals and songwriting to Justin Bieber’s Freedom.
