Under Cover: Roberto Carlos
Apple Music
Every country needs a pop music sovereign, and charismatic Roberto Carlos was Brazil's Elvis. As leader of the mid-'60s "Young Guard" movement, Carlos wrote teen-targeted "iê-iê-iê" songs often inspired by North American hits of the '50s and '60s. Along with his forays into funk and soul, Carlos's many chart successes sparked terrific cover versions by younger stars.
