Brothers Iain and Gavin Sutherland signed to Island Records in 1972, releasing an acclaimed debut album, and during this period they wrote the song "Sailing," which later topped the U.K. charts for Rod Stewart. Having completed their second album with the use of session musicians, they recruited a permanent backing group, Quiver, and supported Elton John on a '73 U.S. tour. More recently Gavin Sutherland spent time writing and playing with local musicians in Scotland, and released a solo album in 2000.
