About Max Steiner
Max Steineris considered by many as the father of the modern film score. Born in Austria and trained under the tutelage of Brahms and Mahler, Steiner introduced classical flavors as a sonic aid to suspension of disbelief. His major breakthrough was KING KONG in 1933, though he is perhaps best remembered for his work in CASABLANCA, GONE WITH THE WIND, and A SUMMER PLACE. Steiner provided music for over 300 films, television series, and theater productions. He was nominated for 26 Academy Awards and won three times. His innovations on the leitmotif resonate through film music to this day.
