About King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
Since 2010, Australian experimental rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have built a reputation as one of the most prolific and adventurous genre-hopping bands of all time. ∙ The band self-recorded their 2012 debut LP, 12 Bar Bruise, using such unconventional methods as capturing the title track’s vocals through a series of connected cell phones. ∙ Self-described as a “cult Western audio book,” their 2013 sophomore LP, Eyes Like the Sky, blended garage rock and spaghetti Western sonics with frontier-set spoken-word narrations. ∙ Their seamless “infinity loop” album, Nonagon Infinity, earned them their first ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album in 2016. ∙ In 2017, the band not only released five stylistically different albums, but they also made their US TV debut, playing the howling psych-rock single “The Lord of Lightning” on Conan. ∙ They made their 2017 LP Polygondwanaland available to independent record labels for free, resulting in more than 150 different versions of it being released on vinyl, cassette, and CD. ∙ Infest the Rats’ Nest—their thrash-metal-influenced 15th album—became a Top 10 hit in Australia, the US, and the UK after its 2019 release.
