On My Momma

On My Momma

Yhung T.O. brings something special to trap: a casual comfort with both hip-hop cadence and soul-singer delivery. His voice is like a hyphy taffy pull, smooth and always in motion. On the title track of his solo debut, the 18-year-old swears he’ll find a way through the violence and poverty he grew up with in Vallejo. Two of his SOB X RBE collaborators feature here, and on the dancehall-inflected “Ruthless”, Daboii freestyles over an inventively chopped sample of “Let the Music Play”.
