Three Mile Pilot formed in 1991 in the same San Diego scene that produced groups like Drive Like Jehu. The band's sound evolved quickly from their punk and hardcore roots, eventually incorporating heavy and melodic elements of goth, glam and prog. The band fizzled in the early '00s after three albums, with bassist Zach Smith and guitarist Pall Jenkins going full time with their respective side-projects, Pinback and The Black Heart Procession. The group reunited and released the acclaimed The Inevitable Past is the Future Forgotten in 2010.
