The Cult Essentials

The Cult Essentials

While the rest of the metal world was teasing its hair and squeezing into spandex, The Cult were mining murkier territories. They were the one band of the ‘80s who pulled together the three major threads of rock history: the psychedelic explorations of the ‘60s, the hard rock heroics of the ‘70s, and the agitated post-punk of the ‘80s. Vocalist Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy fronted the band in classic two-headed fashion. Every song they wrote together serves as an invitation to the dark side.
