The Black Keys Essentials

The Black Keys Essentials

Even at the height of the early-'00s garage rock revival, The Black Keys seemed unlikely candidates for a mainstream crossover. But as the decade progressed, the duo's bare-bones blues purism would give way to arena-rock populism. By the time of 2010's Southern-fried Brothers, their second collaboration with Danger Mouse, they were soundtracking seemingly every beer or car commercial on TV. As they furthered that expansive approach on 2011's glammy El Camino and 2014's psych-tinged Turn Blue, Dan Auerbach's eternally soulful voice has kept the Keys locked into the blues tradition.
