Virginia-based grindcore vets Pig Destroyer got together in '97 and quickly established a reputation for out-there innovation. They pushed the sounds of influences like Carcass farther past their previous extremes, winning a loyal fan base of noise freaks that like a challenge (and maybe a little bit of abuse). On '98's debut Explosions in Ward 6 guitarist Scott Hull sounded like he was about to lose the remainder of his mind trying to top his former life with the infamous AxCx. Hull's virtuosity has only developed in the years since, and Pig Destroyer stands atop the grindcore field.
