Barca band Manel make catchy Catalan songs full of folksy wit and spare, acoustic instrumentation. Their Spanish predecessors include the whimsical pop outfit Antònia Font and the indie-pop storytellers Mishima. But Manel find inspiration from across the globe as well, including the choral splendour of Sufjan Stevens and the Britpop jangle of Pulp.
