Lindsey Buckingham's solo work is a step away from the warmth of his Fleetwood Mac songs. A fan of brittle, whispery vocal effects (“In Our Own Time”, “Show You How”) and beds of gentle ‘50s guitar, he has a knack for giddy melodies (“Holiday Road”) and magical romance (“Trouble”). And while his songs with Christine McVie are more robust, they're still made of dust and shadows (“In My World”). There are moments of baroque folk majesty (“Seeds We Sow”) and sparkling dream pop (“Soul Drifter”), with his Roy Orbison sense of grace punctuated by needle-sharp stabs of guitar (“Countdown”).
