Guru Guru Essentials

Guru Guru remain one of the longest-running and multifaceted Krautrock groups. They were formed in 1968 as The Guru Guru Groove with Mani Neumeier on drums, Uli Trepte on bass and Eddy Naegeli on guitar. Two years later, the band would shorten their name and begin to release what has become an essential oeuvre in experimental rock. In their earliest days, that meant trippy, sprawling psychedelic rock visions, capped off by the wild vocalizing of Neumeier. But as the years moved forward, Guru Guru dabbled in disco-infused funk, unabashedly giddy pop music, twisted prog rock and free jazz.
