Elmore James Essentials

Elmore James's name is synonymous with blues slide guitar. A giant of post-war electric blues, the writer, singer, guitar master and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee was a major influence not only on the blues players of his day, but on the generations of blues and rock guitarists that followed. Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Duane Allman and Stevie Ray Vaughan are only a few of his disciples. Many of James's songs were be covered by artists he influenced. And if you wonder why there's a Joe Turner tune here, it marks one of the rare occasions on which James played guitar behind another singer.
