A virtuoso practically from the cradle, Chris Potter was able to pick up and play seemingly any instrument as a child. The music of Paul Desmond eventually inspired him to focus his energy on the saxophone and by age 13 he was booking professional gigs. After attending the Manhattan School of Music, Potter played with Red Rodney's quintet, as well as the group The Jazz Mentality before launching his solo career. He went on to release several albums and become one of the most vital saxophonists of his generation. Potter was nominated for a GRAMMY® for his work with Joanne Brackeen.
