Founded by former members of Carcass, Carnage, Armageddon, and Mercyful Fate, hell-raisers Arch Enemy are a bona fide death metal super-group (yup, such a thing exists). Combining high-flying melodies, technical ferocity and classic death metal aggression, the band debuted with Black Earth in 1996, but won a devoted following with the 2000 addition of unholy fiend Angela Gossow, who sings like the devil screaming at his kids. Their jams are not for the faint of heart. Song titles like "Dark Insanity" and "War Eternal" pretty much sum it up.
