About The Kandinsky Effect

Named in homage to Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky, this electronics-enhanced jazz outfit formed in Paris in 2007, initially as the Warren Walker Trio, featuring saxophonist Walker, bassist Gaël Petrina, and drummer Gautier Garrigue. After the group's name change to the Kandinsky Effect and 2010 self-release of an eponymous debut album, Walker and Petrina, both of whom had grown up in California, hooked up with drummer Caleb Dolister (like Walker a jazz studies graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno), who replaced Garrigue before the band's sophomore outing, Synesthesia, was released by Cuneiform in 2013. A second Cuneiform album, Somnambulist, arrived in 2015. With a unique meld of cutting-edge electronics and creative jazz, the band has managed to record and tour internationally although Walker and Petrina live in Paris and Dolister resides in New York City. ~ Dave Lynch
