About Rhymefest

This talented Chi-town lyricist made his wax debut in 1996 with the underground single “How We Chill.” After earning his stripes as a battle rapper, Rhymefest caught industry attention with the 2001 mixtape RAW DAWG--produced largely by fellow Chicago native Kanye West. He also co-wrote the hit song “Jesus Walks” off of West's breakthrough debut, THE COLLEGE DROPOUT, winning a Grammy for Best Rap Song in 2005. The following year, Rhymefest own debut, BLUE COLLAR, was released on Mark Ronson’s Allido Records. Acclaimed for its heartfelt, intelligent lyricism and top-notch production (courtesy of West, Just Blaze, Ronson, and No I.D.), BLUE COLLAR spawned the single “Brand New.”
