About Jesse Blumberg

Jesse Blumberg is an American baritone, known for his wide repertoire in opera and art song. He attended the University of Michigan, where he earned degrees in music and history, and pursued graduate studies in music at the Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, where he received his master's degree. Since 2003, he has been based in New York City, though he has performed with the Minnesota Opera, the Atlanta Opera, the Pittsburgh Opera, the Utah Opera, and the Boston Lyric Opera. He has appeared in recital with pianist Martin Katz, giving notable performances of Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin and Winterreise. He has performed in the world premieres of Ricky Ian Gordon's Green Sneakers, Lisa Bielawa's The Lay of the Love and Death, Conrad Cummings' Positions 1956, and Tom Cipullo's Excelsior. In concert, Blumberg has performed with the American Bach Soloists, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, the Oratorio Society of New York, the Boston Baroque, and Apollo's Fire, among many other ensembles.
