About Eliane Elias

The classical tradition meets the spontaneity of jazz and Brazilian MPB in the virtuosic playing of pianist/vocalist Eliane Elias. She has consistently explored distinct musical paths through her career. As a pianist, she showcased her warmth and sophistication on her 1987 debut, Illusions, playing with Stanley Clarke, Eddie Gomez, and Lenny White. In 1993, she became one of the first artists to release jazz and classical albums simultaneously with Paulistana and On the Classical Side. Elias also paired with pianist Herbie Hancock for 1995's Solo & Duets. Accolades followed, including a Grammy Award 2015's Made in Brasil and a Latin Grammy for 2017's Dance of Time. While her lyrical, romantic vocals are a highlight of her work (as on 2019's chart-topping Love Stories), she remains a deeply invigorating and adept pianist, as evidenced by her 2021 duets album Mirror Mirror, featuring Chick Corea and Chucho Valdes.
