Around the time French indie folk-rock band Coming Soon were initially taking shape, some of the original bandmembers were involved in Antsy Pants, an anti-folk side project led by former Moldy Peaches singer/songwriter Kimya Dawson that released an eponymous album in 2006. "Tree Hugger" and "Vampire" would later be featured in the Academy Award-winning film Juno. Meanwhile, Coming Soon proceeded to make their label debut with The Escort (2007), a four-track EP. The band's full-length album debut, New Grids (2008), followed a year later and proved relatively popular for an independent release. ~ Jason Birchmeier
