As a singer and musicologist, Abeer Nehme combines in-depth expertise with majestic performances that floor audiences. Her work masterfully mixes Lebanese and other Middle Eastern traditions, sacred chants and modern Arabic styles. During encounters with renowned symphony orchestras, she’s brought her songbook to new crossover possibilities. In “Allilini”, from 2018’s Sing a Little—her excellent collaboration with oudist/composer Marcel Khalife—Nehme flaunts her operatic chops, mixing strikingly controlled crescendos with a poignant female chorus and cinematic orchestral passages.
