About Gaither Vocal Band

Southern gospel ensemble Gaither Vocal Band was founded by Bill Gaither, who scored a hit in 1972 when Elvis Presley covered his song “He Touched Me.” ∙ Over their four-decade career, the band’s rotating cast of vocalists has included gospel luminaries Gary McSpadden, Larnelle Harris, Russ Taff, and Steve Green. ∙ The Homecoming video series, which began with their 1991 Grammy Award-winning album of the same name, established them as Southern gospel royalty. ∙ Gaither and his wife, Gloria, have written more than 700 songs together and were the inaugural recipients of ASCAP’s Christian Songwriters of the Century award in 2000. ∙ Nearly every former member appeared on 2009’s Gaither Vocal Band – Reunion, Vol. 1, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart. ∙ They have released 37 albums, almost half of which landed on the Billboard 200 chart. ∙ The ensemble has received 20 Dove Awards, including three for Southern Gospel Artist of the Year, and was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2014.
