Sonoran singer/songwriter Regulo Caro boasts a strong, clarion voice that can cut through the raucous clamour of a traditional Mexican band. Performing since age 13, he's been a standout of Mexican regional music in the 21st century, embracing and updating his heritage. He deftly navigates outbursts of tuba and accordion on “Estilo Especial” and delivers spitfire lines amid the brass fanfare and buzzing beat of “Soltero Disponible”. But he can also swing with the drunken rhythms of “Empujando la Linea (El Minilic)”.
