Wanda Jackson Essentials

Starting out in the mid-'50s, Wanda Jackson was one of the first, biggest and best female rock 'n' rollers. Her explosive sound on rockabilly rave-ups like "Fujiyama Mama" and "Rock Your Baby" proved that she was easily equal to her male counterparts, if not even more incendiary. Later in life, Jackson experienced a 21st-century renaissance when her music was embraced by a younger generation of rockers. Tracks like her ominous re-recording of "Funnel of Love" with The Cramps and her burning, Jack White-produced take on Bob Dylan's "Thunder On the Mountain" showed that the rockabilly queen's story was far from finished.
