Few bands exemplify heavy metal excess as outlandishly as the beloved Twisted Sister. With gaudy makeup and a penchant for rousing, scream-along anthems, the Long Islanders cast themselves as comic-book-style anti-heroes put on this planet to incite teenage rebellion (or, at the very least, get kids headbanging until their necks turn to rubber). Amid blazing axe riffs and drums that crush like wrecking balls, lead singer Dee Snider rails against parents, teachers and all their lame rules in a howl as ferocious as it is ridiculous. Rude, tasteless and fun—that's the Twisted Sister way.
