In 1966, The Byrds released Fifth Dimension, kicking off their brief but influential psychedelic era. Earlier that year, they had released the jazz and raga-influenced "Eight Miles High", one of the most radical pop singles of its era. Younger Than Yesterday and The Notorious Byrd Brothers added delirious studio effects and wild guitar solos to their gorgeous folk-rock sound.
