Jamaican reggae star Sugar Minott is known for the 1981 hit "Good Thing Going", a smooth slice of lovers rock that resets a Michael Jackson tune amid vibrant horns and subtle, melancholy guitar. His croon is perfect for the song's romantic mood, but Minott also applied that voice to a wide range of reggae: heady dub and raw roots, too. On "Herbman Hustling", he swims through a beat dominated by bubble sounds and percussion dense with reverb. "Hard Time Pressure" is a gritty political track, Minott venting about life in Babylon over an unsettling lo-fi rhythm.
