Me First and the Gimme Gimmes Essentials

Punk's wildest cover band, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes are a fun side project that got a life of its own. Formed in 1995 out of boredom between tours, the line-up comprises members of NOFX (Fat Mike), Foo Fighters (Chris Shiflett), Lagwagon (Joey Cape and Dave Raun) and the Swingin' Utters (Spike Slawson). Their first album Have a Ball gave the speed-punk treatment to sensitive singer/songwriter material. Fans got the joke and the Gimmes devoted further albums to Broadway standards, hippie anthems and country, even a live album allegedly recorded at an actual Bar Mitzvah. 2014 brought an album of female-associated songs punningly titled Are We Not Men? We Are Diva!
