From a young age, Francine Jordi was driven to entertain—as a child, she would sing for tourists in the Swiss town of Interlaken. She studied singing and piano at college, and quickly launched her music career. In 1998, she won Switzerland's Folk Music Grand Prix for her debut album Das Feuer der Sehnsucht, and she sang her country's Eurovision entry in 2002.
