Alejandro Escovedo Essentials

Alejandro Escovedo's ascent to rock royalty has been a measured journey. Coming from a family of musicians, the Mexican-American got started with early punk rockers The Nuns in the '70s before joining one of the first cow-punk bands, Rank and File, in the '80s. That roots-rock experience would form the foundation of Escovedo's acclaimed alt-country solo career in the '90s, a decade which saw him become of the most talented singer/songwriters of his generation. He hasn't slowed down in the 21st century either, staying as prolific and introspective in his blues-tinged output as ever.
