A complex indie rock band from Athens, Georgia, We Versus the Shark blend the punky aggression of Fugazi and the first wave of emo bands from the 1990s with the tightly wound artiness of an earlier generation of new wavers. Formed in 2004, the band consists of singers and guitarists Luke Fields and Samantha Paulsen, bassist Jeffrey Tobias, and drummer Scott Smith. They released their first album, RUIN EVERYTHING!, in 2005 on their own Hello Sir label, followed by 2008's DIRTY VERSIONS.
