About The Conscience Pilate

Formed in April 1995 by Edward Pond and Joseph Moran, this Toronto-area band joined forces with Neil Leyton and Stacey Straye to become a force on the Canadian indie scene. Known for their high-energy performances and D.I.Y. philosophy, the band received wide acclaim and praise, including opening for the Manic Street Preachers during their 1996 Canadian tour. A debut album, The Sunday Refugees, garnered praise and made many of Toronto's year-end best lists. But a series of lineup changes and some problems with their label forced the band's early demise. Straye and Pond went on to join another Toronto glam band, Robin Black & the Intergalactic Rock Stars. Leyton enjoys a solo career and has his own music label, Fading Ways Music. ~ Jason MacNeil
