About Second Woman

Second Woman consists of Turk Dietrich (of Belong) and Joshua Eustis (of Telefon Tel Aviv), two of the most exploratory and well-regarded electronic music producers active since the '90s emergence of leading IDM artists Aphex Twin and Autechre. Dietrich and Eustis' activity together dates back to the early 2000s, perhaps earlier. They previously worked together as Benelli, credited with a remix of Nine Inch Nails' "The Frail" and a contribution to the soundtrack for the video game Quake 4. In June 2016, shortly after one of Eustis' projects, the Black Queen, released an album, Second Woman debuted with a self-titled set on the Spectrum Spools label. It was previewed with "700358bc5," a bracingly rhythmic and intricate production. The album was met with critical acclaim, and was followed up by digital release E/P, featuring remixes by Jlin and Fluxion, in early 2017. The influences of footwork and dub techno permeated the duo's second album, S/W, which arrived in April. Tresor released the duo's EP Instant/Apart in 2018. ~ Andy Kellman
