Johansson's appearances in films such as Ghost World (2001) and Lost in Translation (2003) garnered her wide public recognition and critical buzz before she began evincing an interest in expanding her career into music. Johansson first appeared on the charity album Unexpected Dreams: Songs from the Stars in 2006 and, a year later, performed live with the Jesus and Mary Chain.
