Horslips Essentials

Any Irish band proud of its ancestry owes Horslips a debt of gratitude. Before the cult act started gigging around Dublin at the dawn of the '70s, the majority of Irish artists looked to America and England for sonic inspiration. Horslips instead turned to their roots, injecting their proudly boisterous tunes with traditional Irish music, instrumentation and mythology. What's important to keep in mind is that Horslips weren't gentle folkies; they were burly rockers, and their ecstatic commune with the ancient spirits involved huge amps and pounding drums.
