This Swedish orchestra has carved out a strong international reputation, in part due to the storied conductors who have spent significant time with it. Jean Sibelius and Carl Nielsen both served as guest leaders. (Not surprisingly, Göteborgs still has a particular knack for their gorgeously brooding works.) And in more recent years, conductors like Kent Nagano, Neeme Järvi, and Gustavo Dudamel have all inspired the symphony to reach its full potential.
