This New York group's impassioned '00s punk tunes are emotional juggernauts. Since the turn of the millennium, Brand New have brought the guitar-powered noise on dark, chugging pop-punk explosions (“Jude Law and a Semester Abroad”); fiery, calm-to-crashing alt-rock atmospheres (“Guernica”); and brooding indie, like the distorted, winding riffs of “Sowing Season (Yeah)”. The fury boiling under their emo-tinged tunes often explodes suddenly, like on the post-hardcore attack of “Sic Transit Gloria…Glory Fades”.
