At Home With Ellie Goulding: The Playlist

Ellie Goulding is eager to release her upcoming album Brightest Blue soon—even with everything that’s going on in the world. “It is a lot of me on this one, which was really important to me,” Goulding tells Apple Music. “It does feel good to have an album that—albeit [one] I wrote a long, long time ago—is a body of work that I believe in.” On her At Home With interview with Zane Lowe, the British pop singer-songwriter talks about dissecting herself as a form of therapy, stepping outside her comfort zone as an artist and having Craig David sing at her 2019 wedding. As she prepares for the album’s July 2020 release from her home in Oxfordshire, England, she’s curated an exclusive Apple Music playlist with tracks that are keeping her mood up during these crazy times, featuring artists like Annie Lennox, Dario Marianelli, Kate Bush and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, whose 1997 track “Into My Arms” she considers moving and timeless. “He wrote this beautiful pop ballad, but he does it his own way,” she says about Cave. “It has so much space in it, and it's so simple. I wish I thought of that, because it's basically saying, ‘I don’t believe in God, but if I did, he would have made you as you are.’”
