About Vital Varkovic

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was 8, I fell ill and stayed home from school. I found my dad’s accordion and played simple melodies by ear. Soon after, I began music school, discovered the piano, and fell in love with its sound, a feeling that has stayed with me ever since. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Martha Argerich, Chopin: Préludes & Piano Sonata No. 2 Max Richter, Sleep Miles Davis, Kind of Blue I chose these albums for their depth and sense of space. They move between classical clarity, intimate piano, and a more open, atmospheric feel. They’ve influenced how I shape emotion and subtle details in my music. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Steps in Reflection” I composed “Steps in Reflection” late one evening, in a calm mood, as if crossing the boundaries of time and my own place. I closed my eyes, let go of thinking, and played. The music naturally found its way and captured that stillness. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of the most memorable moments in my career was hearing that my music helped someone through a difficult time. That moment made me realize how much comfort and meaning simple piano music can carry. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to keep creating piano and ambient music that moves between calm and more emotional moments. Music people can return to when they need space to slow down or reflect. Over time, I’ve become more drawn to subtlety and depth in sound.
